Austin Residence

The Austin house is sited in a superb location within an existing vineyard as part of the Moorabool River catchment area north of Geelong.

This contemporary interpretation of a farmhouse provides a reflective and functional living environment for a productive working couple using rational planning and current technology to support efficient living patterns.

The house is zoned for a variety of living patterns generated by the clients and their frequently visiting family and friends of various ages. The main bedroom, study and living areas interact spatially with three courtyards one of which has a glazed roof. Another courtyard contains a 25m lap pool with its projecting, elevated from terminating with an infinity edge. All walls and courtyards are constructed of sawn limestone blocks.

Materiality is a combination of masonry and corrugated Color bond sheeting selected relative to use and character.
