Wallis Residence, King Street Flinders

The house is situated in the town of Flinders on the Peninsula and, while set back from the beach there is a cameo view to the ocean on which the main living is focussed.

The needs of an extended family have been catered for in this compact, flexible holiday house. The kitchen is the hub of the living space which along with the living and dining area have access to a protected external deck.

The simplicity of the plan is transferred to the modelled form articulated to respond to thermal control and a rural farm shed aesthetic.

Terminating the axis of the main courtyard is the rather ambivalent music shell posing as a shed.

Materials are sparse in number using Colorbond roofing and a mix of corrugated and timber cladding interspersed with charcoal coloured window frames.
